What I will learn at horse academy?

• Behavior and welfare of horses
• Equine health   The signs of good and ill health
  – Preventative medicine and vaccinations
  – Maintaining health
  – Hygiene
  – Teeth, ageing and care
  – Inherent behavior

Tâches du volontaire

• Mucking out the horses (cleaning the boxes)
• Grooming -Taking care of horses ( brushing them, clean legs, clipping them and let them ready for competitions)
• Nutrition and feeding
  – The rules of feeding and watering
  – The constitutes of feed stuffs and nutritional values)
• Tack and equipment (how we put tack like saddle on the horse and get it ready for training, cleaning tack)
• Behavior and welfare of horses
• Work horses from the ground, exercise them by hand
• Guide a horse in therapeutic riding
• Guide horses in hacking out at the fields or at the beach at summer time
• Summer activities: Events with activities around horses like paint horse shoes, draw faces of children, teach children to tack up horses, organise theoretical information’s around horses and provide them to the audience
• Customer care
• Occasional activities: Yard and stable management “The paddock” e.g. fencing, safety, shelter
  – Suitable watering arrangement
  – Grasses, fertilization and pasture management
  – Suitable care of grass

We provide accommodation in Kokkinohoma Kavalas. Capital can be accesed by local transportation and is 12 km by bus. We provide breakfast, lunch meal and light dinner per day with local traditional food to the volunteer and a bedroom to share with other volunteers. Each room has personal bathroom. We provide WiFi and a travel card to be used for the activity.
